Versus Game #2. In virtual worlds we never really know who's who. But you can be whoever you want and try out a new skin, like in IMVU or SECOND LIFE to name a couple. There are more out there. So what's the appeal of trying on a new skin, dunno? I think it's about maybe being able to live out something and see if you'd like to live it out for real. Or a way to have some excitement. Some people meet in these virtual worlds, or even in games like Final Fantasy XI or World Of Warcraft. But it's also just about socializing in a way that grants you anonimity. If you just feel like talking to people without getting to know them in person then you could explore your social side from a medium that is ultimately safe as they get and also realize that it's about connecting with the world, not just who's on your mypspace page or in your immediate friend circle. You can go to the same club every weekend but that don't mean you're talking to anyone. In the future we'll have a fully connected world and you can talk to strangers in China or India or Australia if you want. Right now we have dating services with cam phone abilities where you can talk and see the person! But later on you could do the same in a virtual world and pull up a person's bio by clicking the mouse over them and you can see if that person's looking! Some people think it's geeky, but for some of us, it's better than the people we do know, and if there's no place to meet people in your immediate life then you might try it. I tried myspace because it's deserted where I live. But there are many more out there. Which makes me wanna move back to the city... ...
