In the future we won't have a lot of things. One of them being polar bears for sure. As the climate changes and we start to see species die away what will we think when we're the only living things left on the planet? Will we finally feel bad about what we've done? I think sometimes sci-fi really does foretell the future. The dying out of species could be a good reason for people to invent new ones. To create new ones. And they might not even look like anything we've ever seen. That's a bit scary to me in a way to think of people having animals that never existed before as pets. But I refuse to be old fashioned so I'd like to see that day to see what people come up with. You never, they might look all cute and stuff like the Mogwai in "Gremlins". Animals do have a great resistance and adaption rate, but it depends on the animal you're talking about. Some, like the Cheetah are dying out, they're reverting to incest because there's not enough of them, and creating disease prone newborns as a result. I imagine a secret society somewhere creating new animals to flourish on our dying planet, or at least new breeds. But that can be dangerous. I just got done watching the first "Mimic" movie again. It's not a good idea to mess with DNA. But could you imagine the existence of a secret species creating society? Prepare for a new type of pet! That's an appalling idea. I mean.. we should make disease resistant humans before we create stronger animals.
