Clean Radiation Would Be Nice

Versus Science #38. Nuclear power is a good idea, if it can be kept from being radioactive. I drive through the country and see those huge stacks that look like gigantic chimneys with smoke billowing from them, or is it steam? And I think about the radioactive stuff in there and wonder if it affects the farm life around in the area or the water or the plant life. They speak about this rumored future "clean energy" all the time everywhere but I have no idea what this clean energy is supposed to be yet. I only know that it's nuclear based, but it's not supposed to be radioactive. That'd be really nice. Yet, to make the clean energy could require a process which means working with radioactive substances. It's like making a sugar-free product from sugar, which they actually do! So in the end is it really safe? It could be safe for us but what about the people making it? We all know that someday this clean energy will run everything but I can't imagine nuclear reactors everywhere... so what would they do? Radioactivity is extremely bad for any living things plant and animal. And if things are bad now for the environment imagine what it'd be like with a bunch of nuclear reactors, hopefully it's not going to be like that. Even Iran was saying no to stopping work with nuclear energy, but only to create that mysterious "clean energy"! We don't even have clean energy so it's an odd thought that Iran could want to make it. I wouldn't trust that one unless we have that energy first. But we can't really say no if it's not for bombs. Yet France has been freezing their assets in banks they had open there for nuclear experimentation. It's the next big thing. They know over there in Iran that oil will become obsolete someday and then what would they do? They know they need that clean energy. We should try to make it too, because that will lead to much more than energy. It'll revolutionize everything.
