Part of what makes cyberpunk what it is would be the word "punk". And it is the same idea really, except with different tools, the internet. Anarchy in a new age you could say. But cyberpunk now is foretelling what's to come. Cyberpunk in the future is going to be where we're living it! In a way cyberpunk is a genre about the possibilities of the future but once we reach the future the idea of cyberpunk becomes sort of a mystery. But cyberpunk will always have a place I think, as long as there's imagination. I found this funny pic of Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols holding a Koala bear. He looks rather frightened, as if the harmless thing is attacking him, now that's funny. And who the Hell is that hottie babe in the pic next to him? Johnny.. did you score a hottie Aussie girl? He's the grandfather of punk in many ways. And before him it was all called "art rock". Now we look for meaning by creating cyberpunk. But in the end it's all punk. Cyberpunk is about freedom and equality, just like punk, but you won't be hacking now days to stop a corporation. They can be seen as outlaws most of the time but they're always fighting for what's right in the end. And Johnny Rotten would be proud of cyberpunk too I'm sure.
