Versus Movie #33. This site is like a toplist of sorts so here I am reviewing a movie that came out a good while ago now but if I didn't then this movie wouldn't be on my movie list... so I have to, haha. "The Chronicles Of Riddick" is the flick. I loved everything about this movie really. I loved the character and the story behind him. I felt for the guy really. When it comes to cyberpunk a lot of sci-fi can fall into that fold. There's no hacking or punk rockers but it is indeed cyberpunk, more like cyberpunk fantasy or cyberpunk taken to the extreme. Because in the future there'll be newer threats, which is what cyberpunk is about, and this movie has many new threats. It's just you don't see them hacking. Or corporations. But think much further than that and you would get what you see in this movie. It's one possibility of what could happen. And if you ask me it is rather scary how people could be devoid of emotions (burning the mascara on) and different races of humans could populate different planets, which could be real someday if the population keeps rising. And the thought of a prison on a different planet with a burning surface is pretty damn scary, scary enough to keep me from wanting to be a criminal for sure! The technology is in the powers, as technology progresses it'll be everywhere in everything and we won't even know it as technology. And to think the tides of change and war keep happening. It's even easier to imagine if you have humans living on more than one planet. That's possibly an even scarier future than our own. This Riddick movie is full of possible dark goth influenced ideas. Dark visions of the future. For all we know this is as good as it gets and the future could be far stranger than we think. Much like this movie.
