The Unaging Generation

Versus Science #41. They say aging is a disease now. Some scientist was saying how he thinks we could find the cure for aging in the future, but not in this generation's lifetime. For the next generation. Doesn't that smart! I wanna live forever Goddammit! He says he found the cure in red wine, but the substance has no potency in normal wine unless you have about 600 glasses of wine, which nobody will ever do in one day. So he's going to manufacture that substance and make it as potent as it has to be to reverse aging. That's amazing, but why would they have to make a prediction like "not in this generation's lifetime", that's just B.S.! That makes me think as I die they'll come up with the cure to aging and people will start to live twice as long as I lay dead! I can't even believe how frustrated I am with that. Not that I got a problem with aging because I've gotten better with age in many ways but it's still something that I always dreamt about in my sci-fi story writing. How ironic it would be that I could write a story and it ends up doing really well but they don't find the cure till after I die. Some people get depressed really easy, others just kill themselves, I can't imagine doing either. I'll age well but I know it gets to a lot of people. I have a theory on Heath Ledger too. They say he accidentally overdosed on sleeping pills. Well, if he didn't then I'm wondering if he just felt old or something. That has made men depressed in the past. And it's so stupid too, a guy like him, he could get new hair put on his head anytime with all the money he makes but those movie stars would rather get depressed about their age than do something about their balding heads. Heath Ledger was showing a receeding hair line but he didn't look that old. But that's more than enough to get to some people, which I think is stupid. I'll be damned if I think about suicide due to a stupid receeding hair line. I just want to live forever really. As for aging... well I think some people get better with age, but if I'm not part of the new far out sci-fi generation then so be it. Maybe I'll come back from the past someday like in one of my stories. And if not, then I'll live life to the fullest. Aging does suck but what can we do about it till then? It's nothing to get depressed over though. I've learned a lot about myself with the years. Like they always say: "There's no use wishing you were 18 again when you see how you've learned so much and changed so much". That generation will be lucky but there's always a reason for everything. Maybe living for a long time would work for some but not others. For all I know I wouldn't even like it for some unknown reason. That's fate for ya.
