Earthquakes are the most devastating of natural disasters. I've studied them all, tornados, hurricanes, etc. and earthquakes take the most casualties and happen the most often. It's pretty sad that people have to deal with natural disasters at all but I think in the far future we won't even have to worry about them at all. And we'll look back on life and laugh at the way things used to be. Sorta like the way we can handle a cold now but back in the day many years ago people died from things like the cold. All the many casualties it takes to progress really spins your head sometimes. I think we've got to totally rethink how we build things. Buildings will be built much stronger in the future. And those bridges falling, that's just too frightening, I feel so sorry for those people, there was even a school bus on one bridge! You can bet people of the future would be shocked at things like that. I can see it all now, we will learn from all this and adapt but for now we're doomed to go through it. For all we know buildings might even levitate in the future and then earthquakes and moving tectonic plates would never hurt us. There is one natural disaster that could though.. the super volcano under "Yellowstone" national park. A caldera could wipe out all living things on Earth, but some would survive, we have things now like underground shelters and air filter masks. Some people would adapt if need be.
