"Zombieland" is a good example of comedy horror done right. It's true that horror was never mixed with comedy in the beginning but this is a cool style. When you think about it though comedy horror is a strange combination because you're laughing but still watching a zombie movie. I liked this movie and it shows the American version of a comedy zombie flick unlike "Shaun Of The Dead". Shuan is more campy while this is more subtle humor. In the beginning Woody Harrelson says "my mom always said I'd be good at something" referring to zombie killing and that does make you laugh but it made me think too. What if your path was to be a good survivalist? You never know what path life can take. In this movie a group of teens team up with Woody Harrelson to survive a road trip. In other movies you never know what could happen, like a group of teens hunting an adult for food wouldn't be hard to imagine in a zombie flick. Thankfully, this wasn't that kind of situation. It's horror, but not full on horror. Perhaps this genre kinda makes fun of the dead for even being half alive enough to walk. Bill Murray is also in this movie and he ends up getting shot pretending to be a zombie, one of the funniest scenes in the whole movie. Yet someone just got shot. Should I laugh or cringe? It's a confusing genre but in the end we're all laughing. One thing I really hate the sound of is zombie kids. They scare me. Something about little kids that want to eat you that creeps me out. I'd say this movie has a good replay value.
