Going backwards now. Thought I'd review the show "Happy Town". This show was so full of promise and it hurts to even think that it didn't last that long. I was really liking the suspense build up till they gave away the ending for us. The irony with these kind of rewrites is that sometime they change the story. The original killer may have been someone else entirely. The cast was great and they all did a fine acting job. Some may have considered the subject matter a bit gloomy but look at the amount of crime dramas on t.v. now.It was cool and the potential was enormous. It reminded me of that board game "Clue" where you have this array of characters and you have to try to figure out who committed the murder. Not since "Twin Peaks" have we had a good mystery like this one. It could have been the next Twin Peaks if it weren't for circumstances. Part of me wonders if it really was the recession or if it was a result of the writer's strike. Maybe all the writers started writing in these abrupt endings on purpose. They could have been disgruntled and changed the t.v. show writing. But that is just wishful thinking. The killer, if you don't know, was the dad. He seemed like he had some mental problems. What I couldn't figure out is why his friends in some bar knew about him. Maybe he wasn't the only one in on it. Seems like the dad had a dark side to him that nobody knew about. How freaky. Would the cop ever guess his dad to be the one? We'll never know now. It also had a nice bizarre feel to it not seen in other shows. A sort of eccentricity. And some visions. The show was indeed creepy but that's what I liked about it. Get it on blu-ray!
