Versus Movie #139. Here's a movie that should have been reviewed a while ago. "Live Free Or Die Hard" is one cool flick. The cyberpunk undertones are very present in different forms. You have the fear of technology crashing, the hackers trying to take down the system, street lights being manipulated, and even CB's in trucks and other vehicles. The fear of internet viruses is like nothing when compared to what the bad guys do in this film. Hackers, if revolutionary, could have a much more frightening agenda. The time is right for a movie with topics like this. The main guy is of course a tough as nails cop from the other movies that isn't trained in any sort of special forces fighting techniques but he sure can survive. Kicking ass is what he does here. He doesn't wait to make a move; he just does it. You gotta take down a helicopter, how you gonna do it? You gotta take down a harrier jet, how you gonna do it? We all love the first movie greatly but this one is no doubt a very welcome addition. Bruce Willis sports the shaved head which suits him so he just comes off tougher after a few rounds in other films. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger after all right John McClane! It's over the top in this one and I have no complaints in that department. Action movies are getting bigger and bigger so it's good to see. This is the type of action movie I can watch more than once and for that I would buy it. Good title for this one here. Fight to live free! He's hard to kill 'cause he's a die hard. So am I.
