'Shopped Reality

With the rise of more and more photoshop use it's getting very hard to tell what's real and what's not on the internet. This could become a problem in several ways as we rely more and more on the internet for practically everything. What we believe is what we see most of the time so we're trapped to have our realities altered by media. Some of the fake pictures on the net are so well done that they would fool anyone. With the rise of more and more photoshop use it's getting very hard to tell what's real and what's not on the internet. This could become a problem in several ways as we rely more and more on the internet for practically everything. What we believe is what we see most of the time so we're trapped to have our realities altered by media. Some of the fake pictures on the net are so well done that they would fool anyone. What I fear is something similar to what I saw in a movie. I think it was "Starship Troopers 3: Marauder" where what you see on t.v. may not be reality. The people you see on t.v. talking to you may not even be real. They could be holograms. Or just straight up digital 100%. I remember reading a short story about actors in movies being zombies; well what if they were digital incarnations created to fool us? What if everyone on t.v. was a digital rendering and we were all being fooled? That is the scary truth that they could easily fool us. Photoshop is only the beginning. What if people bombed the online media with fake images and started riots with fake news? I think it's somewhat concerning but at the same time what are we going to do about it? Not much we can do. And what do they do? They start with these stricter rules on the internet about censorship thus causing Wikipedia to intentionally blackout for a day in protest. What if they continue with the tearing down of websites like they're doing lately? Censorship could get out of hand. What if we had no Wikipedia. No open source information like China. Things could be very bad if they got out of hand. Photoshop is just a sign of things to come if you ask me. We should cross our fingers here. Can you trust what you see? What you hear? What you know?
