Glow In The Dark Fly

CAPTURED by DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. THE CHILLER on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 3:47 AM

Versus Movie #141. "The Fly" from 1986 starring Jeff Goldblum is one of my fave movies ever. It's a classic in every regard. You can't help but love it or hate it and I doubt anyone hates it unless they weren't prepared for a huge fly-man at the end, lol. It's a gross out fan favorite. That doesn't come up till later though. The majority of the film is suspense and intrigue as we're all wondering if the experiment will yield good results or not. Most of us know what happens but the build-up still works well even after repeated viewings. I love his acting in this movie...

That doesn't come up till later though. The majority of the film is suspense and intrigue as we're all wondering if the experiment will yield good results or not. Most of us know what happens but the build-up still works well even after repeated viewings. I love his acting in this movie as his personality fits into the role effortlessly. He's a secluded scientist/genius with an anti-social pattern evolving. A woman does care for him but his work takes precedence here. He's so self involved that nobody can get through to him. He's a brainiac with the need for an outlet. His idea? A sort of transport that breaks down the body into molecules and reassembles them in a new location. Teleportation was still a revolutionary idea even back then. So he does finally finish his invention and it works. But it works a little too well. This is the horror of it, even though it doesn't play out like a horror movie. It's more of a sci-fi. The cyberpunk in me likes the horror of technology while the rest of me feels for the guy so badly. You can't help but empathize with this character for the ordeal he's dealing with. The end will deliver and it satisfies.
