Star Trek Invades Silent Hill

CAPTURED by DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. THE CHILLER on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 11:49 PM

Horror Girl #28. You might know her as the Borg Queen in "Star Trek" but before that this lady was well known for other things. She's a good pic for a new horror girl I'd say. Her name is Alice Krige. Now days she's been playing some spookier roles like the one in "Silent Hill" most recently and "Sleepwalkers" long ago with Madchen Amick. She even had a role in "Ghost Story" before that. Yeah she was cute back then, that's why I put up some younger pics of her here for contrast. She's been in the business a long time and it's cool to see her in Silent Hill doing superb acting. It's true, the best actors and actresses really do get all the best parts. Kinda like Malcolm McDowell in "Halloween" and "Firestarter 2" with Dennis Hopper. Kids now may not know her but fans will know she's got a good resume'. Being in Star Trek is a huge boost to stay in the spotlight too. Casters always look at who's already in the spotlight when deciding who to cast. I like looking at how many movies and shows a person has been in, that's the real reward in the end, to be able to say you were one of the actors that started early on in life and now you have a body of work. I don't really keep up with the old Star Trek but the new movies were cool. I'm a huge fan of Silent Hill the game.

Before Avatar There Was Kaena

CAPTURED by DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. THE CHILLER on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:54 PM

Versus Movie #75. If you watched "Avatar" then you probably thought of this movie. "Kaena: The Prophecy" was a cool film made 6 years ago in the same sort of style, though not quite as high tech. It wasn't in 3-D or full of digital people but it was a cool animated movie with similarities to Avatar. It stars the girl Kaena who wishes to find more out of life than living in a giant tree with her people on a dead planet. She doesn't even realize where the tree came from. It so happens that a spaceship crash landed and caused the tree to grow. This is no ordinary tree, it's huge, much like the one in Avatar. So Kaena's curiosity leads her to go in search of a new life by climbing to the top of the tree to find whatever is up there. She ends up finding the last surviving alien of the crash long ago and becomes friends with him in order to build a new spaceship that will get him and her off of the planet. The friend is a flying alien that has worms with exoskeletons helping him. He created the worms to be intelligent. Underneath the ground below the tree is another race of creatures that want to stop them. Eventually this sort of situation has to end in a huge climactic turn of events that will change Kaena's life forever. I like her name, she's cool. Those spots on her head remind me of "Hellboy" a bit. Maybe they know each other. This movie also became a PS2 game. Some people don't like movie games but I do, I play em' all.

A DragonSlayer Future

CAPTURED by DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. THE CHILLER on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 11:27 PM

With genetic manipulation there are many things that could be remade or invented. We can all imagine a world with animal species dying out due to global warming like the Polar Bear or other exotic animals. Remember that movie "Bladerunner", when they spoke of replicant animals? That could be a reality someday. We might have to bring animals back from the dead if they go extinct. This of course is the start of a completely upset ecosystem. I don't think there's any way around that though. With humans it's complicated since we like to have kids and someday the world will be filled up leaving no room for animals. What a thought that would be, a world without animals... scary. Currently scientists make some pretty scary things including cow/man mix animals. They are scary too. I mean why would you want to give an animal intelligence, it would know what it is!! It would also know how much of an ugly freak it is. So my question is if we could design our own animals then will new creatures ever surface, like for instance dragons? I know how far fetched that is but in an age where scientists are creating their own animals then why couldn't they creat one? There's really nothing stopping them from being able to do so.

She's A Real Beast

CAPTURED by DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. THE CHILLER on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:33 PM

This comic has a cool story to it. I'm sure you all know I love comics if you've been reading my blog. What can I say, the amount of imagination that goes into comic stories rivals the wildest of movies so it's cool to me. I get so many ideas, it'd be a waste to not follow your imagination! "Dreams of the DarkChylde" is the name of this wild comic with cool cover art. That's right, that's how it's spelled bitchez, if you don't believe me then look it up, lol! Apparently the girl's last name is Chylde. Ariel Chylde. This, like most cool stories, takes place in a high school. The main girl Ariel was escaping her past in Salem, odd, and she meets Perry, her love interest. Then she ends up accidentally killing her father by turning into a beast from her nightmares as he tries to attack her. So she gets put into a secret military facility after that by Perry, to help her, and she gets experimented on. They give her even stronger powers. So the question is who gave her these powers to summon and transform into monsters from nightmares? She runs away and becomes enemies with her sister Jessica somehow. Jessica ends up liking Perry but he goes to look for her after she leaves town. We never really know if he ends up with her. Cool story to me. In the beginning of this story she's underage but by the end of the second series she's celebrating her 18th birthday. Teen girls in high school like to dress so scantilly clad these days! Brings out the beast in you. Or her.

To Stay In Room 1408 Or 205?

CAPTURED by DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. THE CHILLER on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at 9:09 PM

Did you guys see "1408" with John Cusack and Samuel Jackson? It was cool for sure, reminded me of his earlier work where it was all a bit more surreal. I like the far out side of this a lot. It's been compared to his earlier movie "The Shining" which I suppose I could see with the slow descent into madness. The Shining was quite twisted but believable. 1408 is not quite as disturbing but definitely weird. I like weird. It's a classic idea too, the ghosthunter looking to stay everywhere they say there are ghosts in order to find one. That's just asking for trouble. Who else has thought about doing that? I know I have before but now I'm not so sure about that! Another movie that's come out recently is "Room 205". It's a Danish film but I saw the dubbed version. First off I'll say it has a great soundtrack. This one also has a classic story of the college student going for her first year to stay in a dorm only to room with a total bitch and some group of friends that play cruel jokes on you. The dorm is haunted they say. That it is! One by one they drop like flies mysteriously only to incriminate the new girl. I like how the killer kills everyone without actually doing anything to them. The ghost made them frightened enough to take their own lives accidentally! So which room would you stay in, room 1408 or room 205?

Guest Commentator THE GRAVEROBBER says: "As long as you pay me I'll take either room!"

Two Of A Kind Ain't So Bad

CAPTURED by DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. THE CHILLER on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 11:56 PM

I always thought Mickey Rourke was cool. He's got a bad reputation so they say but I wouldn't know what for. He has done some good films. Soon he'll be in "Ironman 2", which will thrust him into the cyberpunk mainstream bigtime. He deserves it though. The best way to judge an actor I always thought was whether you could believe that the character was someone that they could pull off, if so then they chose good parts. Othe than that, mainstream is really just what happens if you get the right gig. Ironman 2 is nothing like his older films but like Robert Downey Jr. he's made a comeback to do different types of films. After all, you either adapt and change with the times or you get left behind. So he's on the right track. The young lady standing next to him is Evan Rachel Wood. She was in a movie with him called "The Wrestler". She says they weren't dating but I've seen so many pics by now. And people say they were making out. Well that's cool, it really shouldn't hurt her reputation since she's 21 or more by now. Sure that's young compared to Mickey Rourke, but 21 isn't that young if you're that person. Men only get more rugged with age so I'm sure she likes his badboy vibe. Sex appeal can have that vibe a lot of the time. As for him, he doesn't give a damn about what people think of him, that's what I think is so cool about him in the first place. I have a feeling Evan Rachel Wood doesn't care what people think of her either. Her career won't go downhill for a romance. This sort of thing happens often. Who cares really, if you're a single older guy then it's not the same thing as being with a woman for a long time. It's not the same at all, you start checking out 21 year old women. I'm just glad that Mickey Rourke is still doing movies that kick ass. Evan Rachel Wood has dated Marilyn Manson before so I really doubt this would ruin her reputation if that didn't. If I were him I'd be damn tempted to go after her, who can blame him? She likes badboys.

Do Sea Monsters Exist? part 2

CAPTURED by DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. THE CHILLER on Friday, December 25, 2009 at 11:06 PM

Moving on with the sea monster theme here I wanted to let everyone know about how I saw this cool video on Youtube and it inspired me to write this. Did anyone know that Killer Whales hunt Great White Sharks? The ones in Seaworld might be tame but the ones in the wild are really wild! It spurned me to look into the structure of the animal and I found some interesting things. To me the Killer Whale looks like a mix of a whale, dolphin, and shark all in one. It has sharp teeth but they're not as big as a Great White's teeth. It has a body of a whale but in sort of a dolphin form. The fin on its back is huge and that can only be for one thing, speed! It's like a whale made for speed and hunting mixed with the intelligence of a dolphin. The white spots on its head where eyes are supposed to be are that way for a reason, to induce fear. The video I saw showed a Killer Whale ramming at full speed into a Great White and taking it down rather efficiently I might add. Technically this animal is bigger than a Great White Shark. If you ask me it has a mean temperment too. Great White Sharks are deadly for sure but nowhere near as smart as the Killer Whale, or fast. Or big. So in the wild these two are enemies! I can't help but think of the Killer Whale as a mutant of some sort. An awesome animal. Is this the equivalent to a modern day sea monster?

Guest Commentator BLUE FIEND says: "My bodyguard happens to be a Killer Whale!"

Do Sea Monsters Exist?

How do you make an alien a superstar? You take his ugly mug and post it everywhere for all to mimic! This creature ain't really an alien but he's got that reputation. The Deep Sea Angler that is. You may have heard of it. It lives in the Mariana Trench. The deepest part of the ocean off the coast of Japan. And the deepest part of the Mariana Trench is referred to as the Challenger Deep. Deep down in the Challenger deep swims this guy, a fish out of your worst nightmares. Well, it doesn't eat humans so it isn't that bad, but it looks like a piranha from Hell. I can't believe how ugly this fish is, and how prehistoric it looks almost. I'd be willing to bet it is since they say most animals down that deep never evolve. That might be why they found a Coelacanth in the depths, a fish from dinosaur days. This could be a huge discovery for man if we ever got around to exploring the 95% unexplored ocean that still becons to us. There could real monsters living down there for all we know. They have things like snailfish that feed on carcasses of other fish and can withstand intense heat temperatures and water pressure. They say the sea life have proteins adapted to the heat! Wow, that is insane! The underwater volcanoes cause such an acidic heat that it's hard to believe any fish would live in the acidic, boiling temperatures. Believe it or not there's a really thick layer of sludge on the bottom of the ocean created by the remains of all the dead sea life. I bet the heat melts them. Yet, this is perfect for... you guessed it... prehistoric life! Back then the air was full of sulfur and steam and heat ruled Earth, a huge jungle covered the planet. Down below those conditions still exist! Who knows what the Hell is down there! I don't know why but I love that kinda stuff. Here you see Spongebob talking to an Angler and Nemo almost eaten by one. As if Nemo would go that deep! Hahaha, funny. I wonder if the Angler would try to eat Spongebob?! Gotta see that episode. And of course I also have a tattoo here of some lucky fish that got his hideous mug pasted onto someone's body forever! The strange and hideous mystify us and captivate us.

Shadow Man Cometh From Hell

CAPTURED by DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. THE CHILLER on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 11:48 PM

Versus Game #46. One game I really liked a lot in the past was this one "Shadowman" for the N64, which they also made for the PS1 and Dreamcast. A sequel later came out for the PS2. This game is so difficult that it makes you rethink older games. Sure the graphics aren't super amazing but back then it was an achievement. This game to me is like a huge maze with no end and you can keep getting lost over and over till you don't know where you are anymore. This game is so huge that it makes you understand how different the N64 was at the time. That was the start of the 3-D craze where you could have levels below levels, within levels, above, and everything else. You will need a walkthrough for this game guaranteed but they are plentiful online. And you have no idea how dark the subject matter is here. It's a really evil voodoo story with you going to the underworld, which to me sure seemed a lot like Hell. The scenery is cool and this game does a great job of using the 3-D aspect available here. It makes a game before 3-D look like child's play. Try it and see just how far you get without a walkthrough before you're lost. I did and sure enough I was feeling like I was going back and forth through time tunnels or something. The tunnels are so vast and interconnective. There was some real thought put into this game, unlike many others that came out in the platformer arena. You would do well to add this to your collection!

Parting With Treasures

CAPTURED by DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. THE CHILLER on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 11:24 PM

Anyone got any collectibles they wanna sell since there's a recession? I can understand that feeling but at the same time I love the fact that I have collectible things. It makes me not sure if I'd wanna sell them. Like comics for instance. I have some comics from the 50's and letting go of them would be enough to make me gasp for air. They were handed down to me from relatives, while others were just my sense of cool. I would've collected more but the ones I do have are in good condition. So should I part with them to get some cash? I suppose if you wanted to you could fetch whatever your heart desires on Ebay. That's the cool thing about collectibles now days, you set your own price on sites like Ebay and there's no need for a middle man. Whatever you feel something is worth is the price you ask. Yet, someone else is gaining quite a collection to be envious of while others sell their stuff. I do wish for a more extensive collection but I must admit I too have thought about auctioning my stuff off. You know they're old when they say 15 cents for the price. In a way it's a sign of how the economy used to be far superior to what it is now. Notice on the cover of this comic how someone spelled lieutenant wrong. The name "Hellcats" reminds me of that punk record label Hellcat Records. I'm willing to bet this comic is like a form of propaganda to boost morale of troops and civilians during wartime. I'm still not sure if I'd sell any. How about you?

The International Conspiracy

CAPTURED by DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. THE CHILLER on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 9:01 PM

Versus Movie #74. So if our enemies have gone corporate, like the old school mobs, then maybe all those cyberpunk stories by namely William Gibson really are sorta foretelling things with corporations taking over. That way you can't simple point and say that's the badguy. And if all that's true then movies like "The International" do seem really right on in some ways. For all we know a bank could be corrupt now days. Yikes! And with all the problems happening lately like with the mortgage lending crisis it is quite possible that even that could've been an organized crime plot. So now we fight a faceless enemy, not like the old days where they carried Tommy guns and wore fancy hats n' suits. Can you trust anyone now days? Sure. But it takes a keen eye to spot these things before they happen. Like on the internet, the next crime frontier for criminals, you have to know which sites are trustworthy. This all sounds like the Umbrella Corporation from "Resident Evil", if a corporation gets large enough then they could become quite dangerous. We have to monitor who commands large amounts of money and not be naive. I like how they said this movie was a good flick for our times, ironic? No. And on the news I heard about how there has been a rise in bank robberies over the internet from hackers! That's a shock to me but it was bound to happen I suppose. They've had enough of them happen to be alarmed. Even big name banks have been hit. Even the Department of Defense has been hit. It's the way of the future for bad people, corporations and internet crime. You would think the FCC could change how they do things, like tracing activity back to its originating computer. They should be able to do that. So check out this movie and remember how true to life it could be! Clive Owen kicks ass. Kick em' in the face for me Clive!

Guest Commentator GOODBYE KITTY says: "Corporate types will throw you out of a window!"

The Demon Samael Rises Above

CAPTURED by DEATHZ HEAD A.K.A. THE CHILLER on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at 10:24 PM

Versus Music #39. I'm big on industrial. Since industrial is much like cyberpunk and evil cyberpunks like industro-metal. Industrial black metal is a great progression of the genre. For a while this band, "Samael", was trying different sounds, but now they're back to their roots. They call it a bridge of what could be between "Ceremony of Opposites" and "Passage". Ceremony of Opposites was my favorite one by them with the song "Baphomet's Throne". The guitar in that song is so sick, I love it. Progressing in a genre like black metal does take a group of guys with plenty of ideas, since most tends to have the same non stop buzzsaw guitar sound. The vocalists to a lot of black metal bands also sound similar too. So how do you get ahead of the pack when making that kind of music? Industrial allows for a more thick, dense heaviness to the formula, as well as unlimited effects, vocal effects, vocal distortion, guitar distortion, etc. You name it and industrial does it. I don't really care what comes after this genre, just what's happening now. A great example would be "Red Harvest" with their CD "Sick Transit Gloria Mundi". Awesome in every way. This CD by Samael, "Above", does for them what they've needed for a long time. Their space rock phase was interesting but for metal heads it's just got to be metal. It's nice to hear them heavy again. Funny how some bands get lighter with age while others get heavier, then you got those others that get lighter and go back to heavier. "Samael" is the demon that you may remember from "Hellboy" with the dog-like face and tentacle hair that kept regenerating 2 fold each time he died. Well, that's just one depiction of him. Anothe classic depiction would be at the ending of "Silent Hill" for the PS1 when you have to fight Samael to get out alive. Good name for a band. Bring the dense, aural barrage!

Guest Commentator FATHER DIABOLICAL says: "It made my ears bleed, I loved it!"

Triple Monster Battle Royale

Since this movie had both werewolves and Frankenstein, as well as vampires, it does deserve some praise. Granted, it wasn't the most impressive monster movie but how many other movies do you know that had those 3 monsters in it? "Van Helsing" is the movie. I like how they made Frankenstein using hydraulics on his legs with massive heavy metal bolts nailed to his feet. His heart was some electrical device. The werewolf was strong looking for sure, and you felt sorry for him killing his love interest. The vampire with his vampire brides, what a lucky vampire! Now I'm not too sure what to think of all the midget-like helpers he had running around like scientists. That's a bit funny but it also reminded me a tad of the midgets in "Phantasm" that help the tall man. I liked how you had to find Castle Dracula in the first place. It wasn't that easy to find. The vampire women attacking the village was a nice touch too. It seems like the type of monster movie we were waiting for, cheesy at times but that's what makes cool. Like all the vampire babies hanging in sacks of skin from the ceiling and hatching to attack the town. No film is perfect so I thought it was pretty good for what it was trying to be. Trying to bring all the 3 different stories together into one. This idea should be attempted again.

A Haunted House Worth A Scream

Well Christmas is upon us soon and I thought I'd keep spitting out the Halloween spirit! This here is another haunted house, the #3 best haunted house in America. I'd go to a haunted house on Christmas too if I could find someone to go with. Last year I went to see "Black Christmas" by myself and some 16 year olds snuck in wanting to sit next to me, haha, that makes for a good Christmas. They got grossed out right at the beginning though when the person got stabbed in the eye. Anyhow, this haunted attraction looks cool, and it's in St. Louis, Missouri. They have a Darkness theme park even. How often do you see something like that? It's like the anti-Disneyland. I'm always looking for a good frightfest. They have these haunted houses in the most random places. Well that makes for tourism though! Maybe one of these other horror theme parks are open longer than Halloween unlike that "Saw" maze that was open for only the month of October! That sure seems like a great idea to have year round if you ask me. I can honestly say I've never had a reason to go to Missouri for much but now I do! Is that tornado country? Hope not. What sets this one apart is it looks like one of the bigger ones, and they have a lot of stuff. All the classic horror monsters, falling bridges, moving rooms, dropping heads, mirror mazes, horror rooms, and just about everything my dear heart desires! Feel like goin' to Missouri? I do!
